We were formerly a Meetup organization, hosting events at Austin Korean Language and Culture Group.
Before the pandemic, we enjoyed a thriving community with several active event organizers. Our gatherings typically attracted 5 to 30 engaged members, fostering meaningful connections and cultural exchange.
In late 2024, Meetup.com implemented an 80% increase in subscription fees, compounding existing functionality issues on the platform. This prompted our members to further seek alternative ways to connect, resulting in the creation of this website for Korean culture enthusiasts.
Our organization has a rich history that dates back to 2011. I, Haru, have had the privilege of leading the group since summer 2023. Prior to my leadership, Cris served as the Organizer while I was the Co-organizer for several years. Before that, Song managed the group for many years, helping to build its foundation.
We actively engage in a variety of activities centered around Korean culture, including:
- Karaoke Nights: Sing your heart out with fellow members.
- Cultural Dinners: Enjoy delicious Korean cuisine together.
- Potluck Events: Share homemade dishes and recipes.
- Celebrations of Korean Holidays: Participate in traditional festivities.
- Language Exchange Sessions: Practice your Korean language skills with native speakers.
